Exspantion Joint
Expansion joint is one of many types of joints designed to handle dimensional changes caused by temperature, pressure, or structural deformation changes. Its task is very important because it can dampen vibrations, thereby reducing the stress that may arise from these dimensional changes and preventing damage to the piping system. Expansion joints are often used in piping installations at oil refineries, chemical and petrochemical plants, power generation facilities, the automotive industry, and even the aerospace industry.
Function and Duties of Expansion Joint
Selain untuk mencegah terjadinya getaran dan tekanan seperti yang disebutkan diatas, expansion joint juga punya fungsi dan keunggulan lain. Berikut fungsi lainnya:
- Dampening vibrations at pipe joints through which liquid or gas passes
- Reducing the occurrence of shifts between pipes to prevent leaks
- Dampening pressure when liquid or gas flows through the pipe
- Reducing noise
